Cryptocurrency prices today: Bitcoin and Ether weaken slightly after profit booking

Cryptocurrency prices have fallen slightly over the past 24 hours due to profit booking across the spectrum by investors.

The value of Bitcoin, which is the world’s largest cryptocurrency, fell slightly as investors rushed to make book profits a day after the popular virtual coin hit an all-time high. Bitcoin was trading at $66,636, 1.35% lower than its price 24 hours ago as of 5:30 p.m.

Market capitalization fell slightly to $1.26 trillion and 24-hour trading volume stood at $1.35 billion.

Ether’s valuation also fell slightly by 0.74% and was trading at $4,742. The market capitalization stood at $557 billion and the 24-hour trading volume was $1.05 billion. Most other altcoins fell slightly while some remained stable.

There are changes that prices may fall over the next 24 hours, but the long-term momentum remains stable.

Commenting on this momentum, Edul Patel, CEO and co-founder of Mudrex, an algorithm-based global crypto investment platform, said: “Over the past 24 hours, the cryptocurrency market has seen benefits across the spectrum. As trading volumes increase, the market might end up a bit lower.

“Despite this profit booking, long-term investors need not worry as market momentum is still quite positive,” he added.
